Message including coverting from 2.5 to 3 inch up to the cat-back where I stayed with a 2.5 inch cat-back. The way I look at it, the closer you are to the engine, the more bang you are going to get out of going to 3 inch. I think Greg Dupree will agree that 95+% of the performance benefit from going to a 3" exhaust is made before the cat-backs. So you will be happy and save some serious coin if you keep you 2.5" cat-back, and the sound should be nice with resonators and high flow cats. Quiet enough when cruising, nice rumble when you step on it. With that said, I would be hypocritical if I did not tell you that my next exhaust will be all three-inch, to the tips of the tailpipes. I am obsessing on that last "5%." Oh yeah, don't forget that your mid-pipe flanges have to be 3" on upstream side, and 2.5" on the cat-back side.
